Facial rash?

I am 17 year olds. I eat healthy foods. I excercise a lot. I have good hygeine. I shower every day. And I've never had problems with acne or my skin...EVER!!!.I don't use any facial scrups or any creams on my face except for make-up.

I woke up on Tuesday with a spread of red, itchy, bumpy blemishes on my chin with really, dry, pealing skin. I also have random red, itchy bumps on my forhead (but definately not as severe as my chin). It seems to have been getting better, but it is certainly not great.

Could anyone tell me what is going on with my skin? Is it an allergic reaction? Acne? Chapped skin from the cold weather (I live in New England and there has been snow storms going on) ? A random rash?

Any advice for getting better?Facial rash?

  • Facial Rash!?

Normally, my face is perfectly clear and blemish free. Two weeks ago a strange rash started to form on my face. At first they were small, flesh-colored, and dry raised bumps traveling outward from the corners of my nose to my jaw. Most people don't notice them if I'm far away or out of the light. Since then, these bumps have spread to my cheeks, eyebrow area, forehead, near my ears, and around the base of my scalp (they're still small, but a few have gotten swollen/irritated). I've been slathering my face with moisturizer (for dry skin) nightly with no success. These patchy bumps still haven't gone away!

I've been using the same shampoo, St. Ives Apricot Scrub, and make-up for years. I don't know why I'd suddenly have an allergic reaction to any of those. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Facial Rash!?
If you've never had this before, then it would probably be wise to see your primary care physician as soon as possible or head straight to a dermatologist to determine what this is and and how it should be treated.

    Good Luck!

It COULD be a heat rash.

Or little zits.. sometimes when I am hot I sweat, and I get a little rash like that. Or zits, I don't know.

It could also be an allergic reaction to some facial cream you use.. maybe if you used a lot in that specific area it is having trouble breathing.

I am not 100% sure on anything though, so I hope you get it figured out!
if it does not itch, then I can't help you much (different from mine, they itch real bad!)

if you can get aloe vera gel, use it.It relives most rashes, and have a cooling effect. Plus, it removes the itchiness instantly!

    Facial rash?

I've had this rash on my face for a long time. Like 6 months at least. It's only on my nose and the upper part of my cheeks, (to the left and right of my nose, below the eyes.) Obviously it hasn't been that bad, or I would've gone to the dermo, but it's starting to get annoying, and I want to know if I can get an over the counter product to get rid of it finally.

When I first got it, it was really bad. Red, dry, itchy, flaky, and very slightly bumpy. I started using moisturizers, a few didn't help at all. Then I went extreme, and started using vaseline. That cured the dryness and flakiness. But it's still been red and itchy and slightly bumpy for a long time.

I've used so many moisturizers, I don't want to do that. It won't work, I'm almost conviced. I was thinking of using hydrocortisone cream. Thoughts? What do I do?Facial rash?

ok well if it is being very irritating then go ask someone at the chemist, they can actually give you some creams and face wash that stops the itching and flaking, or make it simiply go away

just remeber you dont have to put up with it.
Try Neutragena products for your skin type. I suggest buy a full kit so that you have everything you need. This will help because you can stay on schedule, everything you need is right there at your disposal. Also, your climate can have a lot to do with it, the foods and drinks you consume, stress. Be patient cause result will come but not instantly.
Honey... you've got to find a dermatologist! If you are a teenager, you're probably insured... and if not, an initial consultation wouldn't be too expensive... at least under a $100. Go to a professional... no one here can help you!
thats exactly what I had during the winter months. it was on the corner of my mouth, and very annoying, because it looked like dry drool or something, then it started cracking, then red. Its just probably extreme dry skin, it could be something more, but try to invest in a nice extreme skin conditioner. make sure its organic, (i tried lubriderm and I broke out in a painful rash!!) good luck!

How to get rid of a facial rash

i have had this facial rash for about a week now. i have been washing my face with this facial wash that my mom special ordered for my sensitive skin and i have used it before and it worked REALLY well for my skin. soo i don't think it's that, um...when i put things on my face such as a daily balancer or toner my face begins to sting. and now my face stings and has red patchs and a few bumps and a few parts of my face are starting to scab over....does anyone have any clue what it can be?

i went to the doctor and he didn't think it was anything but it obviously isHow to get rid of a facial rash
You already know your skin is sensitive so try using just the wash and leave off the balancer and toner until your skin is better than add them back one at a time to determine which one may be causing your skin to react. Also it is possible to develop allergies to things that have never bothered you before. How to get rid of a facial rash
    give hydrocortizone a try.

    it's actually for itchiness.

but it worked great on my skin after finding out that i was allergic to a certain shot i got a the doctors.

you can buy it anywhere, walmart, or even at the family dollar stores.
You might be allergic to some substances in the powder...check it out!

3 month old minifox X has facial swelling and rash, any home remidies or known causes?

We have a little mini fox cross puppy who has woken us up at 3am with swelling in her face (mainly noticable around the eyes) she was jumping and scratching at her neck and has a rash there as well as her stomach she is also twitching.

What could possibly cause this and what can we do to keep her happy and calm.

Thanks3 month old minifox X has facial swelling and rash, any home remidies or known causes?
nobody really can answer this for you unfortunately.

you will really need to let a vet see the pup as she could have had contact with many things that cause us no harm but really irritate a puppy.

deisel , cosmetics or simple floor cleaner may be the cause but facial swelling may lead to respiratory problems.

sorry i can't be of much help3 month old minifox X has facial swelling and rash, any home remidies or known causes?
awesome , good luck with the pup you did exactly the right thing.

    take care now Report Abuse

This is an Allergic Reaction to something, you need to bring the dog to the vet! they will give her a shot of benedryl that will start bring the swelling down, they will probably have you give her more benedryl (in pill form) for a few days which will make her sleepy, but it is necessary to get her to the vet this swelling can close her airways, and a shot is the quickest way to reverse the swelling, they might have to do something to open the airways back up if it is already to swollen to wait until the meds come into effect. There are 24 hour emergency vets, I suggest you find the one closest to you and keep the number handy in case of more after hours emergencies.
Your best course of action would be to take your pup to your local vet who is best placed to examine the pup %26amp; determine what is the root cause of the skin irritation she is suffering from.

One of my Dobes recently had a very swollen muzzle which was an allergic reaction, treated by our vet.

    Hope your pup is okay.
That's what is called a SEVERE ALLERGIC REACTION!!! Anytime the face swells the throat may swell cutting off the dog's air supply which of course = DEATH. Go to the vet. AND learn about crate training, a 3 month old pup shouldn't have free run of the house or what has happened can/will happen again.
VET! Vet, vet, vet, vet, vet......
I have no idea what it is. If it were my dog we would be on the way to the vet.

I've tried washing it with anti-bacterial sopa afterwards, and yes i replace my razor about once a week, so i don't know why it keeps doing that. Is there any kind of methods are creams that i can use to make this go away? And it didn't use to do this till around 3 or4 months ago when it just all of a sudden just started appearing. ok now depending how serious you are about clearing up and if you dont have a salon spa phobia. You need to exfoliate ( scrub) your face twice a week. It cant be done the same day as shaving. the bumps are a combination of irritation and oil congestion. exfoliation can unclog pores, and changing to a sensitive shave cream for sensitive skin .Allso change your razor. Another thing change your clenser. Soap irritates your skin. look at dermalogica.com and find a salon or spa near you that has there product line for men. good luckHow can i make a facial rash go away?

How do I get rid of this rash on my face caused by Neutrogena's Deep Clean Facial Wash?

I started using Neutrogena's Deep Clean Facial Wash a couple of days ago after switching from Clean and Clear's Blackhead Clearing Daily Scrub. I wanted to try something new and figured since I used it as a teen and it worked nicely, I'd give it a try again. (By the way, I'm 22 now.) I've never had a problem with major acne problems, just maybe an occasional pimple, but nothing major. However, after trying this product things didn't go as planned. I used the product for about 4 days when I started breaking out in a rash all over my face. It isn't visible, but my skin feels bumpy, it hurts, it's red, it feels really dry, not to mention very uncomfortable. I bought Pond's Dry Skin Cream to help soothe the dryness, but haven't seen any results as to getting my skin back to normal, probably because I've just started using it. I stopped using the Neutrogena face wash, because I figured it either gave me an allergic reaction or my skin is sensitive to it, due to the harsh chemicals in it. I really want this uncomfortable feeling on my face to come to an end, because it's really disturbing and I have never experienced anything like it, not to mention I'm going nuts. Any suggestions as to what I can do to bring my face back to normal? Thanks in advance. How do I get rid of this rash on my face caused by Neutrogena's Deep Clean Facial Wash?
I agree about aloe vera. Try either a gel for sunburn or the one in moisturizer. Also get a facial wash that is not made for acne or any other skin condition. I am not sure if using a facial wash for sensitive skin would be good because they also have crap chemicals in them. Just get some type of wash from cetaphil. This rash will go away eventually. How do I get rid of this rash on my face caused by Neutrogena's Deep Clean Facial Wash?

Also you should try putting some aloe vera on your face or something from aveeno. That should help as well. If you are having acne problems just buy proactiv. Trust me, it works a lot better although I suggest you get the package for people with sensitive skin because the one i'm using is the one with benzoyl peroxide and that won't help your skin at all. Order it off the site: www.proactiv.com I hope this helped now please someone answer my question:

Does this happen to any other guys? Facial hair makes my face break out in an itchy rash-like form.?

For a long time I had problems shaving, both with an electric and single blade. I finally have that down now, using a single blade. Every once in a while I like to take a few days break from shaving. Every time I do by the third day there is a red, itchy rash in my beard area. Does this happen to anyone else? If so, is there anything I can do so I can grow out a beard? I know some might say give it some more time, it will go away, but the longer I do it just gets worse. If not, I assume I need to constantly shave so the hair doesn't irritate my skin. Thanks for any suggestions. Does this happen to any other guys? Facial hair makes my face break out in an itchy rash-like form.?
I'm not a guy, but I do shave various areas of my own person. This sounds like razor rash, possibly brought on by ingrown hairs (hairs that, when they grow back, curve inward into the skin instead of outward and away). Have you tried an aftershave skin conditioner? Have the razors you've used been hypo-allergenic? You may have a sensitivity to specific metals, which can cause your skin to react with a rash-like series of bumps. Does this happen to any other guys? Facial hair makes my face break out in an itchy rash-like form.?
Without actually seeing what you are talking about its sort of hard to say what the cause is. It could be razor burn, normally it takes more than shaving every third day to cause it but, if your skin is really sensitive that could be it. It could also be in-grown hairs, it may seem like a dumb question but, do you shave with the grain, or against it? Do you use aftershave, maybe that would help. Another thought is using a shaving gel like Aveeno, it has oatmeal in it which is supposedly really good for the skin, it can be found pretty much any where (including WalMart) and is priced about the same as other shaving gels and creams.

    Facial Rashes Problem any help?

Well my first question is has this been accompanied by a fever at all? If so, that is a symptom of Hepatitis B. Get to the doctor ASAP.

If not, this can be related to many things, food allergy, stress, change in environment, etc.

The trick is to find out the source and treat that. Treating just the rash will only be a band-aid to the trouble problem.

But if you need to treat the rash, there is a few options.

First things you must do is not scratch it. This will prolong the condition and may spread it.

Then leave it open to the air most of the time.

At night, cover the rash with calamine lotion. This will relieve the itching and help the little rash blisters dry up and heal.

Do not use normal soap to clean your face, use oatmeal soap. This will prevent the rash from getting irritated by harsher elements in ordinary soap.

Change your pillow case frequently, nightly if possible. This is ensure that the rash does not spread through access from your pillowcase, assuming it is that kind of rash.

Once your face is clear for two weeks, treat yourself to a facial. This will clean out your pours and help promote healthy skin there forward.Facial Rashes Problem any help?

Sounds like herpes - That's where they usually form and congregate.

What do you do for baby facial rashes?

It depends on what the rash it. If your baby is newborn and it's infantile acne, don't bother it...don't smear on creams, oils, gels, or any type of ointment, as this will probably just irritate the skin and keep it from clearing up. (Infant acne isn't like adult acne, and it's not painful or otherwise uncomfortable to babies.)

If it's something you're not aware of, call your pediatrician and describe it to him. It could be something as simple as a heat rash, or it could be measles. If your pediatrician is concerned, they'll ask you to come in.

Best advice: If you don't know what it is for sure, don't *treat* it with anything...you could end up making a relatively simple problem 100 times worse. What do you do for baby facial rashes?
familydoctor.org has a great symptom solution ... check it outWhat do you do for baby facial rashes?
Rashes are notoriously tricky to diagnose. Drool is an irritant, so if your baby is teething, his drooling could cause a rash on his chin and neck. However, that the rash is also on his scalp probably indicates a more general cause, such as seborrhea or eczema. It could also be a reaction to a chemical; an infant鈥檚 skin can be especially sensitive to almost any chemical in his environment, no matter how mild.

Do not over-treat rashes in infants; reactions to treatments can be worse than the original rash. My advice is to let your baby鈥檚 doctor determine if treatment or watchful waiting is required.
Nothing, unless it begins to spread, is raised and/or gets weepy. Then you need to see a doctor as it could be impetigo. Most of the time it is just allergies or rosacia (which is not treatable and goes away in a few days).

You might want to avoid soap on his or her face.
I went to the doctor because I wanted to make sure my baby was fine. Not all rashes are the same and not all rashes can be treated with same product.
i would thank the gods my baby only has a rash
    stop slapping the baby
If the rash is dry and flaky use vasoline. Sort of pat it on liberally, but not too much. Vasoline works the best because it is simply lubricant without chemicals that would be found in lotions
Leave it alone! It will go away!

If you feel you must put something on it, Arbonne has pure and excellent skin care products. Their baby line is called ABC (Arbonne Baby Care) and there is the baby lotion that clears up everything from infant acne to eczema.
oaky some of the answers are just retarded but this is a real concern for most moms!

    Bowhunter said it all!
Just keep it clean. my baby gets it on her chin, where the drool runs. I just wipe her face periodically and wash her face with her ';Head to Toe'; baby wash when she has her bath and it really lessons it.
Nothing; you just gotta wait it out. They don't last long.
i would ask a doctor, but probably aloe vera.
Facial rashes 鈥?virtually all infants and young children will get a rash around the mouth and cheeks at some point during their childhood. It usually appears as flat patches, or slightly raised patches, with tiny red bumps scattered around the mouth and chin. This type of rash can be cause by drooling, pacifiers, allowing smeared food to remain too long on the face, or rubbing face against parent's clothes. This rash will often remain for weeks at a time. Just when it seems to finally clear up, something irritates it again and it returns for another few weeks. In time, this will clear up for good, and no treatment is really necessary. If its appearance bothers you, you can try applying Aquaphor healing ointment, lanolin ointment (used for sore nipples during breastfeeding), or hydrocortisone 1% cream twice a day until clear. But be warned, it will probably come back.

Unfortunately the bumps are there, but you can use aloe to calm the burn it should be gone by tomorrow. If not call your doctor it could be an allergic reaction. Next time try the Sally Hansen hair remover wax strip kit it's only around $8.00 and works great, also it comes with a bottle of finishing oil that will keep the bumps from happening.

I really think you should go to your doctor

Get rid of pimples and tiny facial rashes?

the rashes are on my noseGet rid of pimples and tiny facial rashes?
You should go see a dermatologist if you have a rash thats been there for a while- unless it is just a form of acne. Either way, you should see a dermatologist and he/she will prescribe something that will help with your situation. If you don't want to go to a professional, you can always try over the counter products, or try ProActiv SolutionGet rid of pimples and tiny facial rashes?
go to an dermatologist. If you can't try vitamin zinc pills at least 10mg to start every day. Depends on how old you are too. Try vitamin E too 400mg ea day.
There is a product that my dermatologist suggested from France called La Roche Posey and it's an entire line of skin care products developed by skin doctors for problem skin and it's used in their spa in France on thousands of patients.

I think these products will help you very much.

Without actually seeing what you are talking about its sort of hard to say what the cause is. It could be razor burn, normally it takes more than shaving every third day to cause it but, if your skin is really sensitive that could be it. It could also be in-grown hairs, it may seem like a dumb question but, do you shave with the grain, or against it? Do you use aftershave, maybe that would help. Another thought is using a shaving gel like Aveeno, it has oatmeal in it which is supposedly really good for the skin, it can be found pretty much any where (including WalMart) and is priced about the same as other shaving gels and creams.Does this happen to any other guys? Facial hair makes my face break out in an itchy rash-like form.?
I'm not a guy, but I do shave various areas of my own person. This sounds like razor rash, possibly brought on by ingrown hairs (hairs that, when they grow back, curve inward into the skin instead of outward and away). Have you tried an aftershave skin conditioner? Have the razors you've used been hypo-allergenic? You may have a sensitivity to specific metals, which can cause your skin to react with a rash-like series of bumps.

Their baby line is called ABC (Arbonne Baby Care) and there is the baby lotion that clears up everything from infant acne to eczema.
oaky some of the answers are just retarded but this is a real concern for most moms!

gerber has a facial stick out just for that on babies, rite aide and some other stores carry it and it is inexpensive so good luck!
sounds gross, but my mom used to wipe our faces with a cloth diaper after we had wet it... our skin was like black velvet.
put vaseline on it before nursing...

Meg (about Peter being retarded): I can never go to school again!

Stewie: Oh, yes, Meg, yes-yes yes, everything was going swimmingly for you until this. Yes, yes, THIS is the thing that will ruin your reputation, not your years of grotesque appearance, or your awkward social graces, or that Felix Ungerish way you clear your sinuses, no no no, it's THIS. Do you hear yourself talk? I might kill you tonight.

Rash/allergy after contact with facial beard?

My gf and i were kissing for hours while i had a scruffy unshaved facial hair..the next day, my girlfriend had grown allergy or rash like bumps on her upper lip and just right below her lower lip. it stayed there for almost 4 days and it dried, scabbed a bit and healed on the fifth day. what could it be? i hope its not herpes coz she did go down on me. and i really dont know if i have genital herpes or some sort either.Rash/allergy after contact with facial beard?
Sounds like herpes - That's where they usually form and congregate.Rash/allergy after contact with facial beard?
oh i have that all the time, it's just that hair does irritate the skin, i suggest polisporn to get rid of the rash.

Get aloe vera gel from your health store and use it day and night after cleansing. Aloe vera will help heal the skin fast.
you still have the chemicals on your skin they are very strong next time wash it off better and you should have no problems
Use Hydrocortisone cream,it'll help with that sore and raw feeling.A lot of those hair removers do that.I tried so many it's not funny.Whatever you do don't waste any money on Nad's wax remover,it's a rip-off.Sorry about the pun but i wasted time, money and flesh on that crap.My sister and i tried it and it was messy and left you hairy and sore.Having the hair is bad enough but having it raw and bright red too, arg!Check out a Beauty school cause they do waxing and it's cheaper than regular salon's.They've got instructer's watching them and it'll stay hair free longer.Good luck

Everytime my boyfriend comes over and we make out I get a rash on my neck, or I break out on my face. I cannot shave with a blade no matter what I break out. I use an electric but it only gets me completely clean shaven in my goatee area. My neck is the worst. All the research I've done has led me to believe it's barber's rash or pseudofolliculitis barbae and the remedy is to let the beard grow for 30 days. However, whenever I do this the rash and itching get worse.

maybe your facial wash, or somethin new that you're trying? it used to happen to me, it sucks...

I just used a new facial wash, but i got a deep red rash from it! Any suggestions on helping it clear up???!?

First of all, do not use this face wash anymore. Apparently, you are allergic to one of its components.

Use a Zinc %26amp; Vitamin E cream. It will speed up the healing process immensely.

It will also help you with the usual pimples, should you have some.

Just avoid any facewash/lotions/creams at the moment and wash your face simply with lukewarm water and maybe a mild soap. If you really have to, use a mild moisturizing gel (no oil).

Also, make sure you only touch your face if you have previously washed your hands to avoid further irritation of the skin.

All in all, it should be gone after a few days. If it persists, see a dermatologist!

Good luck!I just used a new facial wash, but i got a deep red rash from it! Any suggestions on helping it clear up???!?
First off stop using the facial wash. After your skin has healed, switch to something mild like Clinique, or cuticura for sensitive skin.

You can apply pure aloe vera gel multiple times daily to soothe the skin. And once daily for no more then a week apply a topical hydrocortisone cream, like Aveeno Active Naturals 1% Hydrocortisone http://www.aveeno.com/productDetail.do?p鈥?/a> ( avoiding the delicate eye area) to help soothe the inflamation

It unfortunately would also be advisable to not use any cosmetics or anything other then plain water to wash your face with in the mean time as they may further irritate the skin, and inhibit healing.

You can also do a cool compress with washclothes soaked in ice water, applied to your face to help reduce the redness. And keep your aloe gel in the fridge so that its cooling aswell.

If the rash doesn't heal, or becomes worse, you may have to visit your doctor.I just used a new facial wash, but i got a deep red rash from it! Any suggestions on helping it clear up???!?
You were probably allergic to the things in the facial wash. If it had some fruit extract in it or something esle like that, with a strong scent, it most likely irritated your skin. It's like soap. But, anyway, to clear up your rash, try rinsing your face everyday in cool, clean water (no scrubs, soap, rubbing alchohal, etc.) until it clears up. It's as easy as it sounds. That's really all you have to do.
The easiest n the most sensible remedy to it is to stop using it.

Also, wash ur face atleast 3-5 times a day with cold water n dont touch ur face wit ur hands or anything.Wash it n then let it dry by itself.

It will be perfect within a day or two.

    P.S : B4 using any product,ask ur doc. first!!!!!!!!

My Daughter has been battling an ongoing facial rash just on the corner of her mouth, for about 3 months!?

So, we went to the DR on Friday and was prescribed an antibiotic that she is apparently allergic to so we had to stop use of it. So, we were told to wait until monday to have another antibiotic called in and to keep applying cortisone to the affected area 2 times per day- But, I have a question- Would it be ok to apply diluted Hydrogen-Peroxide to the affected area? Would it harm her? I was just thinking this might reduce the redness and dry it out? Anyways, Just curious! Thanks!

PS- I WILL call the DR on Monday and make sure I can do so, but, just wondering what you ladies think- Or, if you have ever applied Hydrogen-Peroxide to a facial rash...Thanks!My Daughter has been battling an ongoing facial rash just on the corner of her mouth, for about 3 months!?
Lilah has a rash in the same spot and has for about a month or so now. She is teething, I know for sure b/c she has a little white spot and I can also feel the tooth, but can't quite see it yet, I can just feel a little sharp spot.

Are you sure your daughter isn't teething? That it's just not a teething rash?

Here's a link about teething rashes and there is a link in the paragraph of a baby with a teething rash so maybe you can compare and see if that is what your daughter's looks like.

    http://www.babytipsonline.com/Teething-T…

I don't know about the peroxide, but I would try some vaseline as they suggest. It wouldn't hurt anything. I do know vaseline works like magic on Lilah's diaper rashes. Good luck girl!

Edit: Here is advice from Dr. Sears on a teething rash (if that's what it is)

Drool rash – your baby may get a red, raised rash on the face, lips, chin, neck, and chest. Gently wash with warm water and pat dry. A lanolin ointment is a good treatment.

    Here's the link: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/8/T083000…

How old is your daughter? Does she have any teeth yet?

Edit again: Hey! lol...Ya I was just coming back to edit b/c I just looked at your profile and feel like a retard! haha....I saw that it says she's 16.5 months old and I realized you would already know if it was a teething rash or not, as it's obvious she has teeth by her age! oops, lol my bad! But it probably still wouldn't hurt to use vaseline, until you get/call to the dr. on monday. I don't think it would hurt to try anyways. I hope you get the other rash figured out b4 it's beach time!!! (I read your previous question) **fingers crossed**My Daughter has been battling an ongoing facial rash just on the corner of her mouth, for about 3 months!?
I apply Aveno cortisone cream to my sons mouth rash, and it disappears within days. I am not sure if our babies have the same type of rash, our pediatrician said it was just baby eczema and that his rash is going to come and go. The cream is harmless to try but I really recommend it, as it helped me a lot :)

    good luck

p.s. i'm not sure about applying diluted hydrogen peroxide, it might be too strong for her tender skin.
My son has had a rash in the same spot pretty much all winter. It is from teething and sucking his thumb. The only thing my doctor said to do was put some vaseline on it because it was just irritated from the drool and dry weather. (I know, weird combo). Are they sure this is an infection or something and not just some dry skin? I wouldn't put hydrogen peroxide on it as that might irritate it more.
No, I would not. Peroxide is too strong. My daughter had a rash at the same location on her face. Dr. prescribed the same thing. But it never really went away until her tooth erupted. I believe it to be a teething rash. It has now been two month and It has not returned. Keep it clean until you receive the prescription.

Has anyone else's toddler had facial rash known as Perioral Dermatitis?

My son is 2 1/2 and has a rash around his mouth and eyes called Perioral Dermatitis. This was caused by using a steroid cream on his face a few months ago that was prescribed for a different rash. I am sad because the Perioral Dermatitis is usually chronic and my perfect baby boy might be fighting this ugly rash on his face for years to come. We were prescribed Elidel Cream, which worked beautifully as long as we were applying it daily. The rash went away completely until we stopped using the cream for a while. I don't want to use the Elidel Cream anymore due to the increased risk of cancer, but don't know what else to do. If anyone has any experience with this or any helpful advice, it would be appreciated! Thanks!!Has anyone else's toddler had facial rash known as Perioral Dermatitis?
i read that elidel is prescribed for atopic dermatitis wc is a form of eczema..so it might be that your child has an eczema(?)..furthermore, according to the website i found, it should only be for short term use and if any other medications or treatment fails..have you tried askin your pedia of other methods and treatments?and seek his professional opinion again about your concerns?Godbless

I have a sudden facial rash and I'm not sure what it is.?

I believe it might be an allergic reaction. I ate some lunch meat earlier and then not long after, this rash appeared. It's mostly on the right side of the face but it is on the left side too. It appears as slightly red patches, but if you press or pull the skin tight you can see the little white irritated lumps. It's on my right jaw, right cheek, forehead above the eyebrows, the outer corner of my left eye, and part of my left cheek. It itches a little and kinda burns. It almost gives me a ';filled'; or ';pressure'; feeling.

I've washed my face and sanitized with alcohol. I'm just curious if anyone can give me some tips or suggestions on what it could be/how to relieve the irritation until I can get in to see my Dr.I have a sudden facial rash and I'm not sure what it is.?

    Moisturizer and facial rash?

I had a strange facial rash appear about a week ago after I was out in the sun. Everyday, I use a facial moisturizer with SPF 15 protection, but I've never gotten a rash from it before. However, I was out in the sun for about 40 minutes a few days ago, and I developed a mild rash on my cheeks and a little on my forehead. It was slightly itchy, and then disappeared within a day or two. I have a friend who has lupus and she said that it might be the characteristics ';butterfly rash'; that a lot of lupus patients have. I don't really have any other symptoms of lupus though, but this has made me become a little paranoid. Could the lotion I use have interacted strangely with the sun and caused the rash, or should I get checked for lupus?Moisturizer and facial rash?

After waiting a month to get into see my dermatologist, he prescribed a low dose of prednisone which seemed like it was helping but the redness never quite went away and appears that it is the same as before I started taking the prednisone, which was for only six days. Im 37 weeks pregnant and i woke up with my cheeks bright red and it feels like sunburn but i havent been outside. I also feel stuffy and just sick. Anyone have this happen could it be something seriouse?Bright red facial rash..anyone had this?
Sounds like roseola. It's a rash centered on the face.

http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/鈥?/a>Bright red facial rash..anyone had this?
ok all you got to do is put lots of lotion and dont rub it to hard! dont put any make up or chemicals on it
it sounds to me like rosacia. or maybe it's just an side effect of the pregnancy? it does sound a lot like a allergic reaction. think about what you are recently (or even what you put on your face).eat or use anything different? it doesn't sound serious but i would see a doctor anyways.
You could have rosacea or something called ';mask of pregnancy'; caused by a change in hormones. It comes when you are pregnant and leaves after you give birth. It is not serious but will stay with you until your hormones go back to normal. Look up ';melasma'; and see the images which will show you what it looks like; do the same with ';rosacea'; and you will have a good idea how each condition can look. Maybe that will help you make a determination.
I would see your Dr. I don't know the symptoms for ';toxemia'; but I hear it can be very dangerous.
I've had it since about 24 weeks. Its slowly getting worse. Mines bright red, sore, very dry, and bumpy. I was told its called pregnancy eczema.

Stress. I'd lay low on the make up - stick to a tinted moisturizer it's better for your skin.

I'd let it settle down and then exfoliate my face -

find a great gentle face wash, exfoliate (booths makes great products) use pure and natural products (Aveeno, Arbonne, Berts Bee)...

Help with my nine-month old's facial rash??

Thanks for reading. Several weeks ago, my baby developed a small, round, red rough patch of skin on her face. I tried using several things to get it to go down, but it kept getting worse. Recently it spread to her cheeks and became crusty %26amp; inflamed. I took her to the first doctor, who said it was a bacterial infection %26amp; prescribed oral antibiotics %26amp; cream. The next day it was worse, so I took her to another doctor who said it was eczema %26amp; to use a moisturiser. The next morning she woke up and her eye was swollen %26amp; red, so I took her to a third doctor, who said it was school sores (which it isn't). He said to stop the antibiotics %26amp; use steriod cream. He suggested oral steriods if the cream didn't work %26amp; since a cream wouldn't help the eye, I asked for the oral, which seems to help temporarily. My question is, what is it really and what causes it to flare up? I just think it's getting better and then out of nowhere, it flares up again! No doctor can tell me what's causing it!Help with my nine-month old's facial rash??
Is it around her mouth? It sounds like a ';drool rash.'; My son gets it when he is cutting new teeth. It is no big deal. When he was young, a dab of hydrocortisone helped a lot, but now he is old enough to stick his tongue out and lick, I am afraid to use that. I use a little petrolem jelly (vaseline or aquaphor) to form a moisture barrier, especially when he sleeps. Try to keep any drool wiped during the day. I know it's hard. If it is a drool rash, it'll go away when the teeth come in.Help with my nine-month old's facial rash??
Do thesbumps have white heads in them. If they do it might be a staph infection. I think if I were you I would go to a skin specialist and see what they say. Hope that things work out for you.
It sounds exactly like eczema, and she will just have to outgrow it, and might not ever outgrow it. There is a little girl in my son's class I've known for years that has it bad on her face and she is now 6.

    Sorry i'm not much help!
I'm not a doctor, and I haven't seen the rash but it sounds like eczema to me. My daughter gets it all over her body in the winter months. Good luck with it. I know how uncomfortable she is when it flares up. My daughters doctor gave us a cream that is very expensive but works like magic. Of course you wouldn't want to use it aroung the eyes, it's probable the cream your doc offered.
I was going to suggest that maybe it was an allergy to dairy. Have you changed her formula recently or just started her on formula? Are you making her food with cows milk? The other possibility is has the brand of formula you usually use changed anything? phone the customer service number on the can and ask? Sorry cant diagnose the problem for you but merley help with finding out what could be causing it. Good Luck in solving this, I hope she gets better soon.
Go back to the basics, baby soap and water. For the time being, do not touch her face and no kisses on the face, kiss her behind her ears :) Try this for a few days and see if there is any improvement. I've also used A%26amp;D ointment on my son's face, a very very small amount (the clear / not the white kind).

  • Random Facial rash, why?

Have a facial rash, red raised bumps. No idea why I have it, just randomly came on, could it be an allergic reaction?Random Facial rash, why?
It probably is an allergic reaction. Have you used any new brands of cream, shampoo or other cosmetics? Sometimes foods can cause a rash like this. Known offenders are orange juice, strawberries and chocolate. If you have any antihistamines in the medicine cabinet they may give you some relief.Random Facial rash, why?
Well, if I was to guess based on the symptoms, I would say it sounds like rosacea.

Has this been going on for a while?

This could help separate allergic response from other things

Are there any triggers to the appearance (sunlight, certain foods, etc)?

    - Rosacea is triggered by the sunlight, heat exposure, exercise and spicy foods (anything that might expand the blood vessels)

Does the rash appear anywhere other than your face?

    - Rosacea tends to appear on the nose, forehead, cheeks and chin. Allergic response appears where ever the allergen is (e.g. if you are allergic to your laundry detergent, then the response is likely to be under your clothes, etc)

There is no cure for rosacea but it can be treated. You should see a doctor to make sure.
I got it before and is was every time I used Coast brand of soap. If you shave it might be because you irritate your skin by shaving against the grain. shave down not up even though it cuts the hair closer. Also could be your brand of shaving cream. Many people have sensitive skin in that area.

    Facial rash/sores. need diagnose?

A few weeks ago whilst on a cruise i developed a coldsore in the corner of my mouth, over a period of 2 weeks the sore became a rash about 2 cms in diametre in the corner of my mouth, after that i got another rash above my lips on the opposite side of the mouth. Nothing i have tried has worked, and yesterday morning i starting getting small sores/pimples/rashes all over my face.

Anyone have any ideas?Facial rash/sores. need diagnose?
It may be Seborrheic Dermatitis. Try covering the sores with Neosporin every night and see if they go away.

    Vomiting facial rash ?

i have to say it. the picture you painted with that question...

    the face rash is spewing.

take them to the doctor.Vomiting facial rash ?
if you threw up and then it looks like some of your blood vessels have bursted they may have because that happens to one of my firends every time that she gets sick.. so it might now be anything.. if you're nervous you can always go see a doctor
Did you take the 10 year old to the doctor? We're not the people you wanna ask...go to the ER and make sure it's nothing too serious. I hope your little one feels better.
Doctor is the way to go... Go now please...
suggest calling a doctor out immediately. sorry but i wouldn't wait. If in UK call NHS Direct if not sure and tell them the symptoms.

    Strange facial rash?

On my forehead over the last few days I got millions of tiny outbreaks that look like pimples. It is burning a little, and starting go red in a few patches. Any help would be appreciated!Strange facial rash?
go to a dermatologist immediately, it can be a skin infection or outbreak of bacterial growth or an allergy to a food or cloth(cap, hat or bandanna) in this case.

formation of sweat which stays on a longer period on the forehead and is not swiped or cleaned . (if you work in humid conditions) is the reason for its development and burning sensation owing to presence of salt in the sweat. try to keep your forehead dry as much as possible .Strange facial rash?
It's hard to tell what it is because it could be many things and we aren't professionals. So it might be good to check with one. Though do you wear hats? Because it does sound like heat rash. It could also be rosacea or dermatitis. Or a reaction to something. SLS in chemical shampoos and conditioners are terrible at irritating skin. I used to have irritation (breakouts and itchiness) along my hairline and forehead that just wouldn't go away. As soon as I switched to a natural shampoo and conditioner (Jason) my skin cleared.
that is due to dandruff. first get rid of dandruff. then go for deep cleansing of facial skin
you probably brushed past a bush with your forearm and then wipes you forehead with this arm. Sounds like a allergy.
Only a doctor will be able to tell you exactly what it is.
have you rubbed against some ones stubble or used anything new that you have not used before hair shampoo or some thing like that

I have red bumps on my cheeks and a few under my eyes. They are not that small, not pimples, they kind of burn and itch when you touch them and they are spreading. I was at the doc yesterday and she kind of laughed it off. She said they are hormonal and that was the end of that. Has anyone else had these before during pregnancy and what can I do. I love my clear skin!! :)Facial rash, 27 weeks and 4 days pregnant....?
i am also 27 weeks pregnant and i asked my dr today about a breakout that i have on my face. i have it around my nose (kinda on the bottom and on the sides) and i also have it at the bridge of my nose that goes onto my eyelids a little. mine has been there awhile now but not till i got pregnant and it kinda gets better but doesnt go completly away! mine are little bumps and the area gets red (especially if i mess with it)! i have other children and have never experienced this before but she said that she doesnt think its acne, she thinks its probably just a breakout from being pregnant! she said if it gets worse or doesnt go away after i have the baby she will put me on meds to clear it up. she told me for now to use cordizone (mispelled i think sorry)Facial rash, 27 weeks and 4 days pregnant....?

    Mask of Pregnancy:

What is this? ';Mask of pregnancy'; is also referred to as melasma and chlosma. Melasma causes dark splotchy spots to appear on your face. These spots most commonly appear on your forehead and cheeks and are a result of increased pigmentation. When you become pregnant your body produces more hormones, which causes an increase in your pigmentation. Nearly 50% of pregnant women show some signs of the ';mask of pregnancy';.

What can I do? To prevent ';mask of pregnancy'; from happening to you, you should wear a good sunscreen that is at least SPF 15 whenever you plan on being outside. You can also wear your favorite ball cap to protect your face from the sun. Your skin is extra sensitive, and the sun increases your chances of these dark spots showing up on your face.

A lot of woman have skin problems during pregnancy, I had PUPPPS with my DS but with DD I was fine all the way through.
A friend of mine got a rash and it was due to her vitamins for some reason. She ended up having to eat the little kids Flinstone vitamins, but I don't even think that helped much. Sounds like you need a new doc.! what a jerk! I'm sure if she ';laughed it off'; it isn't anything major, but maybe try the thing with the vitamins. It may work. Our bodies are so weird during pregnancy!
Sounds like the mask of pregnancy. I haven't had it, I just have horrendous acne for my pregnancies. Try BabyCenter, they may have some good tips.

    Itchy Facial Rash?

I've developed an itchy rash on one side of my chin and mouth and now it's spreading to the other side of my face. It has lasted for about 3 weeks and becomes crusty and flakey, but at times becomes oozy if scratched too hard. It is so much like poison ivy but I don't know how that could be. I have a cat I love on a lot and I've heard you can get it from animals. All I know is, I steer clear of poison ivy after getting it so bad once it got into my bloodstream. Could it be fungal? How do you treat facial skin rash from allergies?

I have had bad eczema on my face before, particularly my mouth and eyelids, also ear lobes and standard inside of arms, behind the knees, then still everywhere else. This was 1996-8 timeframe.

For your face, be careful what you use. Check with a dermatologist before using any steroid creams. I was once frustrated with a dermatologist I'd been seeing because the no-bath-washes were not helping my terrible itching. I had not yet seen an allergist and had no thoughts about it being allergies. I saw a dermatologist who gave me level 7 steroid diprolene in 40gm tubes with several refills. This was bad.

Even though he said it can thin your skin and not to use it around the eyes, he let me have it. He didn't express the strength as being the strongest stuff and severity of the consequences. I was not offered any lower-level steroids either... Diprolene is what they dab on you after hives from allergy skin prick testing and the tube is the size of a child's finger, but shorter. I didn't learn this until I'd been using it for many, many months. To this day if I scratch my arm, my chest, you can see blood through my skin very quickly. The skin as an entire organ thins, even if you've never put that steroid on that part of your body. I am sure I have more wrinkles because of it, at age 35.

As for general care, I have issues with a lot of beauty products - I actually try not to wash my face with anything but lots of warm water or a baby wash that doesn't irritate my skin, and I always put petroleum jelly on afterwards. After a warm bath, use cool water and pat your face dry. For your body if you use baby oil before you dry off, it can help keep your skin moist - I'd still use petroleum jelly after the oil during those years and it would help immensely. Be generous with the moisturizers. (change your oily towels out every time) Be gentle with the eye area. I still use petroleum jelly, but I just try not to rub the area too much.

I hope whatever is causing your rashes, you can avoid completely, and save yourself the hassle and discomfort.

Good luck! How do you treat facial skin rash from allergies?
Allergies and skin rashes are cause by weak immune system. Steroids, soaps and lotions will relieve the symptoms only for some time and with possible side effects. I suggest you to consider natural treatment methods for your condition.

You can read this comprehensive article about overcoming eczema and allergies by using natural treatment:

Good luck! How do you treat facial skin rash from allergies?
depends if it's really an allergy, can try hydrocortisone cream over the counter, dove soap, no triclosan, deodorant or antibacterial soaps please. can take benadryl 25-50mg oral dose every 6-8 hours, will make you very , very sleepy if not used to it, if no results in 36-48hours or sx worse, need to see dermatologist. wash your hands, no face make up, use only your wash cloth, warm to cool water, usually an allergy is itchy. can be blistery, painful, red, if pus definitely see a doctor right away or if it spreads, or you start to lose hair or vision or swallowing problems, go to ER asap.

Do I have a facial rash?

This morning I woke up and I had a bunch of red bumps on my face that seemed like a break out of zits. It was confusing, because the night before I had only one or two pimples on my cheeks, and I washed my face, then I woke up to several. The bumps only itch if I touch or scratch them, or think about them itching. The bumps are red, and kind of stick out of the skin, but only a little bit like a mole.Do I have a facial rash?
Pop down to your drugstore and ask the chemist honey. It is difficult to say for sure without seeing them. Could be dermatitis. Could be acne breakout due to stress or hormones (is it that time of the month?). Could be a sensitivity to whatever you washed your face with if you changed the regime.Do I have a facial rash?
mostly rashes starts with a fever.

but sorry to say this ,it could also be rashes commonly caused by acne.

I hate to tell you this, but it does sound like infantile eczema. My daughter has it pretty bad and it is like fighting an uphill battle. From what I understand, a baby can get it if either of their parents has allergies, asthma, sensitive skin, or eczema itself. Most times the eczema will just go away by about the age of 3. It will go away and then out of no where just flare-up worse than the last time.

    A few things to try if you haven't already;

Make sure when you bathe her you use luke-warm water. Warm or hot water will only make it worse.

You can use Aveeno oatmeal bath and let her sit in the water for a bit, that might help is she is itchy.

Be sure that all of the products that you use for her, lotions, laundry soap, softeners, are Dye Free/Perfume Free/Hypo-allergenic. I buy All Free and Clear, Bounce Free and Clear, and Oxy Clean Free and Clear for laundry. Aveeno baby actually makes an eczema lotion and body wash and you can get it at Target. Sometimes they have it at Wal-Mart and sometimes no.

Be sure to keep her as cool as comfortable for her. Heat will make her breakout worse.

    Avoid itchy fabrics.

You should talk to her doctor but you can give her Baby Benydryl, you'll have to talk to the Dr to find out how much.

Health wise this really doesn't pose a health risk to her other than if she scratches it that part can get infected. She may have sensitive skin all her life but she'll grow out of how it is now. You don't want to use steriod creams on her for a long time because they can cause adrenal failure in little ones.

I hope this helps! All the best to you and your little one!My nine-month old baby has a facial rash, HELP!?

you can try wetting a soft cloth in ice water and dabbing it gently around your face to cool it a little, then apply some good quality aloe vera gel. You could also try washing your face with some chamomile tea which has soothing properties. And splash your face with some cool water every time you feel like scratching, your finger nails will only hurt your skin even more. I did this when i ate something I was allergic to once. If it doesnt improve in 24hrs, you should probably go see a GP.

Is it possible for eggs to cause facial skin problems like a minor heat rash etc?

I may be imagining it but it feels like the more eggs I eat, the more red marks and bumps appear on my face! It's not serious or anything - there's only like 6 or 7 at the worst times.

I have no idea what it could be but if no doctor can figure it out, maby you can have one make you an appointment for a dermatologist. Also, its not good to go see dr after dr after dr. Some times, no, lots of times doctors dont hit things right on the nose so you have to keep working with them. If you keep switching doctors then things get confusing.

Rash caused by facial hair removal cream?

It gave me a rash...how can I get rid of the rash?!!! Please and Thank you!Rash caused by facial hair removal cream?
you can try wetting a soft cloth in ice water and dabbing it gently around your face to cool it a little, then apply some good quality aloe vera gel.

But because I have generally alright skin on my face, I thought I'd try and figure out why this happens from time to time. Only thing I could relate to it was an increase of eggs in my diet!Is it possible for eggs to cause facial skin problems like a minor heat rash etc?
Keep a record of what you eat and when you get the rash. It will help to confirm if it is the increase in eggs in your diet or another food that is causing the problem. Is it possible for eggs to cause facial skin problems like a minor heat rash etc?
    Yes.

allergy to certain foods can cause minor skin rash, maybe this time, you should think of eliminating eggs from you diet.

Please go see your doctor and inform him/her about this rash A.S.A.P. You may have acquired a dangerous disease, and therefore it would be most appropriate to get the required medial attention before symptoms worsen.

It happens to me all the time .

I just got over a bad facial rash... how do I smooth my skin?

two days ago, I woke up with a really bad rash on my face, which was hundreds tiny whiteheads everywhere. The rash has dried up now, but has left a layer of rough skin with lots of dead skincells.

How can I make my skin smooth again? Is it too soon to use a micro-scrub now?I just got over a bad facial rash... how do I smooth my skin?
I don't know if you want to use facial scrub right now. Your skin is too sensitive right now. And the new skin is still trying to repair itself. So I suggest you hydrate your skin first. You should get Vitamin E facial cream. That works really well. Once you see that the roughness starts to peel off or dissipate, you can start scrubbing. I would use Neutrogena Facial Scrub with micro scrubbers. Good luck!

You might also want to see your doctor about your rash. Maybe it's Psoriasis or some other skin condition. You don't want to treat it with any regular lotions. They have special skin care for things like that.I just got over a bad facial rash... how do I smooth my skin?
I would not recommend a scrub because your face is probably still very sensitive and irritated. Try getting some Bio Oil (available at Walmart for about $10) and put that on the rash in the evening. Aloe Vera Gel and Vitamin E cream or gel would work great too.
Wash your face with a soft soap and use cold water . Let the air dry your face. Then use a skin cream called Nivea. It comes in a blue bottle. This should definitely do it. Hope this helps :)!
Well i used to us ARBONNE ADVANTAGE but my body just sort of created a immunity for itt. so what i use now are three things from one line of acne killers and one thing from another one.

    1. OXY FACIAL SCRUB MAXIMUM... this is a great acne wash for reducing redness in acne and decreasing the size of them noticably

    2. OXY FACIAL PADS CLEAR MAXIMUM.. what these do are after you wash your face with the scrub this soothes your face and brings a cooling sensation.. pluss these are great for oily faces becuse they wipe away the oil.. and they create a sort of shield so that no bacteria can get inside of your pores.

    3. OXY VANISHING LOTION MAXIMUM.. this is one of my favorite things. what this does is it cleans your pores out so that more that 99.99% of the bacteria is out of them.. then you cann just put it one your pimples as sort of a mask for about ten minutes then wash it off and the size, color and roundness of your pimples should be more than halfway gone

    4. CLEAN AND CLEAR PERSAGEL..thi is by far my favorite thing.. this totally erases all of your pimples. you just put it on before you go to sleep kind of as a mask and the next morning when u wake up our acne should be totally gone. also if you are conserned that your coverup is going to clog your pores then just right before you apply your coverup use this as alotion and rub it all over yourface thenn just apply your coverup as iff nothijng is there. it will help fit acne. plus since it is pretty thicke it will coverup your pimples noticably

all of the following things that i just listed up there i bought at my local grocery store for under 5$ each..

these will smoothe your skinn A LOT!!

    glad i could help\\\\\\11
